To save everyone, the admiral intentionally steered the ship onto the reefs of an uninhabited island chain. All 150 passengers (and a dog!) made it ashore safely. They had landed in Bermuda. Feared as the 'Isle of Devils,' they instead found a paradise. For nearly a year, they lived on the island, using local cedar and salvaged parts of their wrecked ship to build two new vessels. They eventually completed their journey, but their stories of the island's beauty and resources led to its permanent settlement. That shipwreck on the flag isn't a symbol of disaster; it's a testament to resilience and the beautiful, unexpected beginnings that can arise from hardship. It's a story of turning a shipwreck into a home.
